Indians have been present in the Philippines since the pre-colonial times, trading with the natives. During the Spanish colonial period, Indian traders continued to come to the Philippines, and many Indians, particularly Sikhs, settled permanently in the country.
In the twentieth century, large-scale Indian migration to the Philippines began during the American colonial period, with the arrival of Indian traders and merchants who established businesses in the country. After World War II, more Indians migrated to the Philippines, mostly professionals such as doctors, engineers, and accountants.
There is also a small Indian community in the Philippines, many of whom are involved in the diamond industry. The Indian community in the Philippines is concentrated in Metro Manila, particularly in the areas of Makati, Pasay, and Paranaque. They have been active in the business and professional sectors, and have contributed to the economic development of the Philippines.
